Following in the footsteps of Britpop’s great brother-led bands of the ’90s, Pleasure Pill was formed in mid-2021 by lead singer Jonah Paz and his brother Ethan on rhythm guitar, alongside friends from San Diego’s underground scene. Growing up between skate sessions, DIY punk shows, and self-booked community center gigs, the band channeled both sibling rivalry and shared ambition into a sound rooted in classic British influence and modern indie energy.
In just a few years, Pleasure Pill has quickly captured the attention of tastemakers and media, earning praise for releases like the psych-infused single “Wonder How” and their explosive live album Heaven Can Wait, recorded during a buzzworthy New York City club residency. What began as a local following has steadily grown into national industry attention.
Despite early interest from major labels, momentum that stalled during the uncertainty of the pandemic, the band remained committed to their independent path. Drawing inspiration from the British Invasion through to ’90s staples like Primal Scream and The Stone Roses, Pleasure Pill continues to carve out a sound that is both nostalgic and forward-looking, driven by melody, attitude, and a clear sense of identity.
